Challenge: Celebrate Three Songs

Today’s subject abruptly jumped off the page and into my heart…

A fast-forward scroll through life brings us all to the same predicament. One of my favorite songs takes me there; an other-worldly experience, a perfectly orchestrated voyage amidst the pains of the world. I’m brought to a space where simplicity takes precedence and love is the only requisite.

*The difficulty of this challenge garnered only one song. Much remains to be told in the personal meaning this song has for me, due to my close friendship with one band member (unnamed). The two, however, are separate subjects: the song, the man. Combining them was ill-suited for this post.*

Some songs shout their way through my life, demanding attention. Others, like this one, wind their way through the tapestry of my days, keeping the fingers of my heart steady on the chords, the lines and threads, and remind me that there are moments where the world can be still and where hope sits quietly waiting for us to pick it up again.

Any Pearl Jam song could have been on any list. As I’ve read through the different offerings today I get reminded of songs that I should have thought of. Pearl Jam’s songs represent more than just music and stories, they represent a movement and a lifestyle. Good choice.
